Russell's Reserve is made at The Austin Nicholls distillery, where they also make Wild Turkey. This bourbon uses the same recipe as Wild Turkey, but is aged further and only selected barrels from the honey spot – the ones that sit in the middle of the rick house, where the temperature range is the most constant – are chosen to be bottled. A big dry nose of nuts, cocao and touches of vanilla. Faint orange lurking in the background. Dark woody flavours, nuts and spice. Plenty of big punchy rye. The finish is long and dry. Great neat or in a big punchy cocktail.
