Made by Japan's Kuichi Brewery, which started out as a sake brewery with almost 200 years of history, but found a new lease of life in 1996 through brewing craft beer. The Espresso Stout is one of its most popular beers, brewed using well-roasted espresso beans and based on an imperial stout style. The stout is then aged in Bourbon and Sherry barrels. This interplay of coffee, oak sherry, bourbon and tannins all intermingle to create a sour stout is has low carbonation, but mellow and rich earthy tones. Complex and tasty!
