PRODUCT INFORMATION
Mount Gay hails from Barbados and is made at the oldest distillery on the island. The Black Barrel is a recent release that takes advantage of a further maturation in a heavily toasted and charred barrel, hence the name 'black barrel'. The rums are first aged between 3 and 7 years, and spend another 6 months in the heavily charred ex bourbon barrel. The aroma is woody, with creamy butter but is balanced with dried fruit and spice. On the palate, the rum is big with orange oil, earthy spice and vanilla. The char of the barrel adds a gorgeous toasted flavour. The finish has touches of spice and light citrus. Great neat or in a punch!
