This Sicilian made amaro is the N0.1 best-selling amaro in Italy, and has been using the same secret recipe for over 140 years. Amaro generally have a soft and sweet initial taste and then a sharp bitter aftertaste. The herbs, spices, roots and barks used meant that these digestifs were often touted to help with ailments. Although this has now been discredited, they actually do help with digestion, especially when consumed after a (large) meal. Citrus and herbaceous on the nose, with some juniper piney qualities. Orange hints with liquorice, mocha coffee, gentian and woody herbs. Bitter aftertaste of cinnamon, chocolate and orange.
