This liqueur hails from the Northern region of Lombardy and has a beautiful Alpine quality to it. The recipe has been handed down from generation to generation and is a closely guarded secret. The herbs, roots and berries are all gathered in and around the mountain where this is made. Weeks of preparation go into this before it is left to marry in barrels for 2 years. The result is a deep mahogany coloured liquid with lots of woody notes, genetain and caramel, and a juniper freshness that is apparent alongside aromatic herbs. An intense palate, with complex herbal and vegetal flavours. Oak and woody roots make for further complexity. Bittersweet finish with lots of length. Definitely enjoyed over ice or neat after dinner.
