In the 1780s, Benedetto Carpano came up with the formula for this sweet vermouth. In 2001, when the company was bought over, the new owner Count Niccolo Branca found an old document with a recipe on it. Excited by what he believed could be one of original recipes for the vermouth, he and his herbalist set about recreating it, resulting in this vermouth. A rich delicate nose of dried fruits, prunes, cherries and dates. Vanilla with ground spices with orange zest. A rich plethora of flavour, bitter sweet with Christmas spices and Christmas cake flavours. The finish is lighter than the palate, with cinnamon and fruit. Extremely complex.
