One of most legendary traditional herbal liqueurs in the world, Chartreuse is a bright green French liqueur made by the Carthusian Monks since 1737. 130 different plants are used to create this wonderful complex herbal spirit. Only two Chartreuse Monks know the recipe and they oversee all the production. They are also the only ones who know which plants to macerate to get the natural green and yellow colours. At 55% ABV, it is not for the faint-hearted. Used in classic cocktails such as the Queens Park Swizzle or the Last Word, you can even add a spoonful into a hot chocolate to make a winter warmer. Pungent, complex, and very 'green' on the nose. This isn't shy on the palate also – big complex herbal and vegatable flavours, including mint, fennel, caraway, pine and lemon. Delicate sweet finish of mint and rosemary.
