Douglas Laing has been independently bottling Scotch since 1948, and have several ranges that include blended malts, blended whiskies, single malts, and single grain. The Old Particular range consists of single cask malt or grain whiskies sourced from highly-sought after distilleries from all over Scotland, all non-chill filtered, with no added colouring and bottled at natural cask strength. At 10 years old, this Benriach bottling may seem young, but only 370 bottles exist worldwide, and it is worth giving this young and fruity scotch a try. The nose is buttery, soft and almost fluffy pancake-like, some hints of maple syrup. The buttery quality is also in the palate – think baked pastries with a dash of pepper. The finish has red fruit preserves and a nice toasted grain finish.
