Created in 1793 by Antonie Amedee Peychaud in New Orleans, Lousiana, this bitters is an essential ingredient in the famous Sazerac cocktail. Cherry and liquroice on the nose, with orange zest, aniseed, and also hints of celery. Fresh mint and cherryade palate, with tonic-like bitterness. Similar bitter cherry finish with a medium length. This scarlet red concoction is unpalatable neat, but a good few dashes really liven up most cocktails, especially those using dark spirits.
