Plantation Old Fashioned Traditional Dark is a rum created by a bunch of rum geeks who wanted to recreated the style and flavour of the rums that were used when the Tiki movement was first conceived. To do so, they reverse engineered some very old bottles of rum. The result is blend of rums from Guyana, Jamaica and Barbados and bottled at a formidable 69% ABV. The rum is big on coffee, orange, plum, jam and hints of truffle. The palate is rich with caramel, chocolate and vanilla notes, these then reveal flavours of cinnamon, raisins, nutmeg and oak with molasses and hints of smoke. The finish is long with caramel, cloves and dark chocolate. With such a high ABV, the rum goes a lot further in cocktails, so use sparingly. Makes for an amazing Mai Tai or Rum Punch though!
