Wolfburn, Scotland's northernmost mainland distillery, released its first single malt in 2016, and they have been making waves ever since. This award-winning whisky is made in a very traditional way with a long fermentation and slow distillation, while during maturation, the casks are stacked no more than 3 barrels high. Non-chill filtered with no added colouring, the distillery bottles and labels everything by hand all by themselves. This Small Batch 375 release is aged in first-filled ex-bourbon casks, and then second-filled ex-Oloroso sherry casks. On the nose, you get honey, malt, leather, and hints of citrus. The sherry casks add a distinct raisin dryness to go with spice from the bourbon casks. Lovely layers of milk tea and toffee on the finish. Enjoy over ice.
