Douglas Laing has been independently bottling Scotch since 1948, and have several ranges that include blended malts, blended whiskies, single malts, and single grain. XOP (Xtra Old Particular) is a range of very rare single cask whiskies from highly acclaimed distilleries, including some closed ones. Non-chill filtered, with no added colouring and bottled at natural cask strength, these are whiskies for a special occasion. 299 bottles of this famous Islay single malt were released. Bonfires on the nose, coupled with dried seaweed, sweet peat and iodine. On the palate, cured and smoked meat with burnt toast, charred oak, and a saltiness balanced by a vanilla sweetness. The long finish has peated barley leather, earthiness and burnt sugar. Wow.
