The most prestigious rum from Diplomatico, this is a spirit that has been aged a minimum of 14 years. Made from 100% pot still rums, it is first matured for a minimum of 12 years in normal oak barrels, before spending a further 2 years in Pedro Ximénez casks. The PX casks add a sweet raisin, date and fig flavour to the already intensely flavoured rum. The nose is rich, with lots of sweet aromas, from tropical fruit and honey, to molasses and christmas cake. It becomes way more richer on the palate ; butter pastry cinnamon, dried apricots and touches of tobacco. The finish is long, sweet and gently spiced. This is a rum that needs to be savored neat, in a fine crystal glass.
