Called Ilegal because the mezcal used to be smuggled by founder John Rexer, it was offically launched in 2005. This anejo is aged in ex-bourbon barrels for 4 months. Made from 100% Espadin agave, the mezcal has woody and smoky notes and baked agave on the nose. Clove, butterscotch and vanilla on the palate with tobacco and dried herbs. The finish is oaky and long. Definitely one to be sipped.
