Established in 1948, Douglas Laing & Co is an independent bottler of Scotch based in Glasgow. Big Peat is part of its Remarkable Regional Malts, a range of blended malts aimed at showcasing the remarkable qualities of each Scotch region's malt whiskies. Big Peat focuses on the Islay region, and is a blend of malts from Ardbeg, Coal Ila, Bowmore and Port Ellen. The Feis Ile is a festival celebrated at the end of May on the Island of Islay. It celebrates the island, the culture and the whisky. Distilleries will have special releases just for this festival, often only available to those at the festival. This is 2019 edition. 3000 bottles of this were made. A malty sweetness with lemon candy, sea salt, brine and iodine. Big powerful palate of sweet brine, vanilla, ginger and citrus. The smoke very apparent. Long finish with tobacco and cedar wood.
