Established in 1779, Bowmore was Islay's first distillery, and is known for producing a medium peated Islay malt. This 12YO single malt whisky harks back to the Scotch profile of the 60s and 70s, with more tropical notes apparent on the nose and palate. The nose has smoke and caramelised pineapple and tropical fruits. This is also the same on the palate, but now we have some more smoke, but balanced by tropical and stone fruits, with slight touches of iodine and sea salt. The finish is long with fading smoke and peat. Great with a drop of water.
