The founder of Compass Box, John Glazer, set up the company in 2000 because he felt too many people were selling whisky the same way. Thanks to his belief that blending creates something greater than the sum of its parts, Compass Box is now regarded as one of the great blending houses of the modern age. Their whiskies are all non-chill-filtered and without added colouring, regardless of whether it is a malt or grain whisky. Compass Box believes that high quality oak is needed in order to produce great flavours. The Oak Cross use both French and American Oak, which gives the whisky great vanilla and toasty notes. A light nose of stewed fruit, ginger, soft spice and apple. A fruity palate, of red fruits, apples, honey, dried apricot. An oaky malty finish. Best served neat or chilled and pairs very well with cheeses.
