The founder of Compass Box, John Glazer, set up the company in 2000 because he felt too many people were selling whisky the same way. Thanks to his belief that blending creates something greater than the sum of its parts, Compass Box is now regarded as one of the great blending houses of the modern age. Their whiskies are all non-chill-filtered and without added colouring, regardless of whether it is a malt or grain whisky. Having caused some controversy with the way it was produced in the past, this once 'illegal' Scotch is back, legitimately now. Aged in casks with French oak heads, The Spice Tree exhibits wonderful spice notes, as its name suggests. An amazing nose with dried herbs, spice oak and vanilla. A rich palate of toffee spices and gingernut biscuits. Big spicy finish. Wonderfully different.
