The founder of Compass Box, John Glazer, set up the company in 2000 because he felt too many people were selling whisky the same way. Thanks to his belief that blending creates something greater than the sum of its parts, Compass Box is now regarded as one of the great blending houses of the modern age. Their whiskies are all non-chill-filtered and without added colouring, regardless of whether it is a malt or grain whisky. After working on a whisky with The Spaniard bar in New York City, this Blended Malt consists of Scotch aged in sherry and Spanish red wine casks. Ripe blood orange, vanilla pods and fresh young malt on the nose, butter cake and cookies, nuts and raisins on the palate, and finishing with dried cherry, cinnamon and hints of menthol. Great on ice.
