This is not your usual Jameson whiskey. Distilled at Midleton using a small amount of grain whiskey, they then add a larger proportion of pot still whiksey and age it in a double toasted ex bourbon barrel (hence the name 'black barrel'). The result is a great Irish whiskey with a richer body and more intense oak note. On the nose, rich and fruity with notes of tropical fruits, coconut, young orange, guava and a hefty amount of sweet cereals. On the palate – rich and creamy with dates, walnuts and citrus peels. Good peach and coconut notes, and a little cinnamon. Long finish with fruit and spice. Enjoy neat!
