Part of the Wood Finish series from Douglas Laing. The independent bottlers are experimenting with lots of different casks and this one, from France, is a wine cask. Côte-Rôtie is a wine from the Rhone Valley that is made from Syrah and Viognier. The red wine casks add a gorgeous hue to the whisky and not to mention certain distinct flavours. 352 bottles of this whisky were released. On the nose, we have stewed fruit, vanilla, spice and some peppery oak. The palate is similar, but now with creamy vanilla and a rounder texture. The finish is of old spice, clove and cocoa.
