Around 2007, a fire at the St Lucia Distillers distillery forced the producers to move and store the rum in various different places. Some of those casks were completely forgotten about. When they finally rediscovered these rums, they decided to release The Forgotten Casks limited edition blend, which used those extra-long aged rums that were too old for the normal blend. They quickly gained worldwide acclaim, so now Chairman's holds back certain rums for extra aging. These rums have been aged from 3 to 11 years in oak barrels. A sweet raisin nose with cigar tobaccos, vanilla and honey. The warm palate brings forth grilled tropical fruits, candied walnuts and soft spices of cinnamon, clove and nutmeg. Gorgeous finish of vanilla and sweet spice. Definitely one to be sipped.
