Did you think almond flavours only come from almonds? Well, they also come from the pits of stone fruits, such as cherries, peaches and apricots. Inside the stones, there is a component that is similar to an almond and also has those nutty almond flavours, which is why you often get marzipan and macaron notes with these fruit distillates. And lo and behold, marzipan is there on the nose of this Amaretto. The macaron is the flavour on the tongue along with lots of vanilla and cake. Touches of lemon add a hint of zest. Long lingering finish of toasted almond and burnt toast. Use in a classic Amaretto Sour or in a coffee. Also great as an after-meal digestif.
