Original Dark is meant to be used in cocktails, and as such has the body of a young rum from Barbados and the top funky notes of an older Jamaican rum. This makes it very versatile and ideal for mixing with. The rum is double aged, which means once blended, it is shipped to Cognac, where it spends a further 3-6 months in wooden vats to age. A nose of black peppercorns, clove, cinnamon, baked cherry, prune and molasses. This develops into black tea, and forest and leaves. On the palate, it is fruity with raisins and dried pineapple, which becomes drier towards the end. The finish is dry and spicy.
