The world's most famous bitters, Angostura was created in 1824 by a German, Dr Johann Seigert, who first made to help cure stomach issues that soldiers were facing because of a change in diet. Angostura bitters is deeply rooted in cocktail culture, so it is an essential ingredient for classic drinks like the Old Fashioned, Manhattan and Pink Gin. A pungent spiced nose of woody spice, herbs and fruit. The palate is full bodied with lots of cloves, cinnamon, orange, mint and zest. Hints of coffee can even be detected. The finish is long with cardamom, clove, cinnamon and orange.
